A Little Background

This article is based on certain texts from the Nag Hammadi library that point to the secret identity of the father of Jesus, which I have written about here. Essentially, his father was the angel Gabriel who was responsible for the births of both John the Baptist, Jesus, and, according to the Protevangelium of James, Mary as well. Gabriel was now posing as Simon the Magus and had attached himself to John the Baptist and was helping him develop his following. And then Jesus reappeared and asked John to baptize him.

I wrote concerning John’s somewhat violent baptism of Jesus here.

After Simon successfully resuscitated Jesus following the baptism, Simon rebuked John with his famous line:

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Mat 3:17 NIV)

Then Jesus and his dad, the fallen angel, retreated into the desert.

12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert,
13 and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
(Mar 1:12–13 NIV)
