What’s one of the best thing that makes a game so cool? It’s the map and the environment which players can interact. From a small house to a large building, from a town to a large city, from a simple plain in a field to wild and dangerous mountains. For us the map is one thing that sets the mood for a game. Many game developers used game development platforms that matches their taste to create an in-game environment.

A simple 2d level from the game “Brave Bran”. The developers used Godot Game Engine.
A dense jungle sample level created in Unreal Engine 4.

For us, while studying the subject Game Development, we really enjoyed creating and designing our own environment using our imagination. From that point, we were given the chance to experience the joy of a game designer of how he felt when we made our own personal in-game environment.

A student’s speed map creation using Unreal Engine 3.
