This is not just a game, this is Battle Royale.

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS was developed by a modder-turned-game developer Brendan Greene along with the korean studio named Bluehole. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was inspired by a japanese film “Battle Royale” where all the students are sent to an island and kill each other, the last man/woman standing wins.

The game was developed using Unreal Engine(the same engine we use to develop games in CICT) and the game is available on early access at steam with 2,390,946 players from the past 30 days and sold over 10 million copies since its release from March 2017, it beats valve’s popular games like Dota 2 and CS:GO on daily player count.

As expected, almost every early access games are very unoptimized and I’ve experienced it myself, you need a quite beefy computer to run PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds(PUBG) but after upgrading my processor and gpu, lo and behold! the game is finally playable. The developers are working very hard to deliver optimization updates almost every week, so dont worry. From my personal experience the game is totally smoother than it was on release.

Squad of players

The game’s concept is very simple, choose where to drop in the world, find a weapon, try to survive for as long as possible, and in the end you’ll be greeted by a “Winner winner, Chicken Dinner!” message on your screen. The game has 100 players in a server so the chances of winning is very rare (trust me, it’s really hard), also it’s not just running around the map killing people, there are also care packages dropped by plane and players really keep an eye out for it, and best thing is that you can’t camp in one spot as the circle keeps on shrinking until all of you remaining players meet up and eliminate each other. Don’t worry though, you can still play with up to 3 friends and face other squads and it’s a lot of fun! Also you can customize your character to your liking!

As the picture shown above we decided just to keep our heads down and let the other team eliminate the remaining ones and make the killing blow, we finally did get to eliminate the last team and the winner winner chicken dinner screen showed up. The anxiety, the struggles, the hardest decision whether to engage enemies or not, finally paid off when the chicken dinner is served.

It’s amazing how a game can give you this experience and to be honest I’ve never been anxious in a game before playing PUBG.
