It is said that painting is a great stress reliever. And the fun committee at CIIE took it a little seriously, and organised a ‘Paint on Canvas’ event to break the mundane stressful work customs on Thursday.
No boring seminars. No ridiculous games. No brainstorming. The newest team building exercise involved creativity, collaboration and art. Yes, art — even for those who think they can only paint by numbers (or not at all).
We thought there was a need for people to just relax and paint together whilst having fun. To materialise that, we bought a huge canvas of size 4ftX6ft and a variety of colours to splash on it. The idea was to give different mediums of colours to people to let their creative juices flow on canvas.
Of course, how can any event at CIIE be complete without food? So, the efforts of our amateur painters were paid off by refreshments like Danny’s famous veg puffs along with CIIE’s traditional pesticide drink (oops, I meant Coca Cola) and chocolate chip ice-cream.
The fun part was till the actual event took place, nobody knew what’s cooking! The event was kept a surprise for all. However, the fun committee decided to drop hints from two days prior to the event and asked people to prep their creative side, and get the creative juices flowing. (Yeah, we like to keep people guessing!)
It’s only when the team walked into LaunchPad, where the event was held, that people realised what they were in for. To all of our surprise, the star artist for the event was Prof Basant. After watching him paint, a lot of people got enthusiastic and started painting wherever they could find space on the canvas.
Finally, a masterpiece was created, which we have now decided to hang in our office for everyone to see. (Oh yes! We deserve to show-off our artistic skills a little, don’t we?)
