A Call For New Voices

What is an emerging writer. These words we use so promiscuously to keep the human being in the box. This is what is wrong with publishing. All the boxes of rocks and the lists of what we can do and what we dare not do publishing is the silliest piece of ugly, hateful business that marginalizes itself. It devalues uniqueness and originality and I don’t give a damn if you are emerging or been around a long, long while like a grave. You will be judged on your WORK. Not your tribe. Not your country. And not by your education or whatever Iowa’s workshop you dutifully attended. At what point are we not marginal. When we have published one book or ten. From what rock, I wonder, where did I emerge from. You are either a writer. Or.
Not.
