Logline: A modern-day remake of the Breakfast Club, in which the characters are the opposite of who they are in the original.

Essentially, instead of a cast of all white, cis-gendered students, the film will have a more diverse cast of students in terms of race and gender.

Given that the overarching theme of this class is gender in film, the connection to making this would be that we’d allow us to explore the ways in which we can portray underrepresented genders in films.

As an undergraduate film class and not a production company, we have limited resources and means with which to create a movie. Due to that fact this film would be a good choice since it, like its predecessor, would involve only one location, making it simple to record.

The major scene of the movie would be a recreation of the iconic library scene in the original Breakfast Club, in which the characters sit in a circle on the floor and talk to each other. With the new cast of more diverse characters, this scene would fit well with the themes of this class, as well as the themes that I think we and our classmates embody. Since the Breakfast Club is known for its incredible relatability in terms of the young adult experience, and we are all young adults, the film would not only be easy for us to make, but meaningful as well.
