Trigger Warning: This post contains a few minor spoilers from “Togo”.

When Disney gets it right, it gets it very right.

A diphtheria outbreak threatens the lives of thousands of children in Alaska in 1925. The only hope is for the William Dafoe-helmed band of sled dogs to undertake a 600-mile voyage in treacherous conditions to bring home the antidote.

“Togo” ticks all the boxes: fluffy dogs, gorgeous scenery, heroic anthropomorphism, high-stakes, electric chemistry, and a poignant ending. Bundled together in a neat 2 hour, family-friendly, wholesome package.

But Togo — the eponymous leader of the sled pack — is more than just a “good dog”. He embodies leadership qualities that we can all glean from.

Always Take The Initiative

Even as a furry pup, Togo isn’t content being part of the pack. He wants to be its leader. Delightfully rowdy and courageously bold, Togo doesn’t pass up any chance to impress his master. Give him an inch, he takes a mile. Give him nothing, he’s resourceful enough to make you notice. He wants attention. He’s prepared to make things happen. He goes the extra mile so his drive is noticed.
