It is often said on many Internet forums “But if the roles were reversed!” Followed by an awful tirade about something or the other. And in most cases, this excuse is used to justify and derail important conversations about social issues. In the case of Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 6, however, this argument of role reversal has some merit. There has been much more discussion around sexual assault lately and that is a great thing for survivors everywhere. I have seen much more talk of ‘stealthing’ and how it violates the victim’s right to consent. ‘Stealthing’ is when during sex, someone removes the condom without letting their partner know. Their partner has consented to safe sex, and this act removes that consent without them knowing. It is incredibly wrong.

In Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 6, Daphne finds out that her new husband Simon has been dishonest with her. Daphne and Simon are the newlywed Duke and Dutchess of Hastings. As such, Daphne has been raised incredibly sheltered and doesn’t know how sexual…
