Films can convey the mindset and the outlook of the time they were made in — how historical events materialise in the mind’s landscape as a result. Films can symbolise an era.

Films can touch us very deeply personally. They can even transform our lives after a few short hours of watching them. Films can even take minutes of our time to change us intrinsically, and re-evaluate our outlook.

There’s no doubt that we can learn very effectively from film. Yes, words alone are moving, and images alone are beautiful — but combined! Films take us to worlds you probably could never have imagined. We can effectively step into someone else’s viewpoint and experience emotions ranging from awe to horror to empathy to tragedy to love to anger to elation.

The word Cinemo is created as of now. Cinemo defines the films that become nameless because their themes are so much greater than the confines of that one title. Cinemo refers to the powerful effect film can have on our mindset, our lives, or the lives of others, even of societies, it can reflect.

On an etymological level, Cinemo defiantly plays with the feminine nature of cinema, the voyeurism of watching, and through giving it a masculine ending, implies that passive watching can lead to proactive thinking when watchers and creators search for it. Moreover, Cinemo contains the word “nemo,” Latin for “nobody” — Cinemo is beyond body and transgressed to greater concepts.

The philosophical themes in film can change our outlook on life, or give us perspectives we never even considered. All of this is what Cinemo tries to embodies — the deep, stirring power of film.
