Who We Are

We write about films that inspire inquisitiveness, reflection, and awe.

As a new magazine, we are open to all writers passionate about film and its impact on the world.

Film is just one of many ways of sharing outlooks on life, and different perspectives of the world around us, or “the world we perceive”, philosophically speaking.

At Cinemo, we want to share the experiences film imparts on us with others. Here is a how-to article to do just that.

Note: Writing on any form of moving images is welcome, from film to art installations to series.

First Step to Write

If you wish to write for us, simply comment on this article:

“I want to write!”

Then, make sure you have a profile image and biography that represent you as a writer.

How to Submit Your Draft

Your draft is finished, you’re proud of what you’ve written, and want to share your article with the most people.

There’s just one more step: Medium allows you to assign up to five tags. Include at least one of the following tags:

Tags to use: Film, Politics, Life Lessons, Philosophy, Psychology

Some other topics to tag are:

  • Inspiration
  • Movies
  • Series
  • Filmmaking
  • Art
  • Writing
  • Creative writing
  • Society

Add to the Publication

Time to add your article to the publication:

  1. Click the “” button in the top-right corner of the page
  2. Select “Add to publication
  3. Choose “Cinemo” from the list of publications
  4. Click “Add draft” to submit your story for review
  5. Wait patiently for your draft to be reviewed (usually within a day or two)

Depending on your settings, you should receive an email from Medium once your story is accepted or rejected. If it was rejected, you may receive a private comment at the top of your article mentioning why.

We look forward to reading your work!

Medium Writing Advice

When writing your article, keep in mind that Medium has some rules that we abide by too:

  • Make sure your title clearly explains what you are writing about: long titles are fine.
  • Make a specific, unusual, interesting point, beyond just reviewing the piece of cinema. It could a personal aspect of the viewing experience, or a psychological analysis, or an artistic one.
  • Articles are preferably between 700–2000 words long.
  • No ads or sponsored content, as defined in “Ad-Free Medium.”
  • Avoid embeds that directly collect emails or data from users. See “Embedded Content” under the rules.
  • Do not include requests for donations, or asking for claps.
  • This Medium article has some handy tips and check out Medium’s official policy for the do-nots.

Written pieces that we’d like to publish are:

If you follow these steps and guidelines, we’ll publish you soon. Lastly, think about joining Medium’s Partner Programme, and you may get paid for your writing!
