i OHHH! S 7

A new version of our favourite OS has been released and as usual there is a mad rush all over the world to upgrade their devices, including my hubby and my kid. I, for ‘some reason’ am left with no iOs device…Ahem!! (For those who know me…Yes, I said it!!)

To be honest the 1stinteraction with the shiny new look n feel leaves you in a state of mixed emotions. You really want to be able to love it and join the bandwagon of people who are flooding the social media sites showing their loyalty to the half eaten fruit but not entirely sure if the entire thing just gels together or looks like a sloppy mix of the 2 other big players in the market.

This time I am actually not sure whether I love it or hate it. Some bits are really well done and are very impressive keeping up to the name which Mr. Jobs made for the company, yet something’s are so pathetically dumped that 1st year graphic design student would wonder…why…who…how?

First look: Nice and dreamy! Look closely — half the icons are done by Droid team half by MS.

Whatever happened to the patented curves. This size of circle inside a rounded square so close, leaving so much unequal space on the outside is just WRONG!

Recreating icons…why spoil something which was no nice. The curves, the styling, the depth! Sigh!

Mr. Job’s soul would be cursing you for using arrows of this proportion. Although the pop up in itself looks good the Arrow just draws my attention…may be its just the designer me. The sad color combination on swipe n the second image. ‘More’ looks disabled here. This is not expected from Apple at all.

This is the only winner! Love the feel…love the subtle glow while tapping. Still to figure out what the alphabets are doing under these numbers. Heritage sake maybe;-) I am sure that has a reason…will find out soon.

There is no doubt there have been quite a few enhancements but some design sensibilities have been ignored. But who cares people have got used to Android and they will to this too:-)
