Together, Remotely
Keeping our distance doesn’t mean we can’t stay close
It’s a scary time right now. More and more of us are being asked to work from home if we can, keep our social distance when we’re outside, and all pull together to get through the challenges we’re facing right now.
On the design team at Cisco, we are all hands on deck to support our amazing colleagues who are working incredibly hard to help businesses, schools, hospitals, governments and families around the word stay connected and keep working.
For those of us that are parents, we have of course the fear and concern around keeping our kids safe, but also the more immediate challenge of keeping them occupied while their schools are shut down!
Entertaining the kids
So one fun thing we did in our (limited) spare time is a colouring book for our co-workers’ kids, so they can help decorate the new home office that’s suddenly appeared in the house!
We’ve included logos and signage that is more typically found in the office setting, and turned our new Webex Teams illustrations that we’ve been adding over the past few weeks into colouring inspiration — starring Quinn our curious cat and Riley our protective dog.
(Shout-out to Cassandra, Caitriona and everyone on the momentum.design Illustration guild for all their hard work)
Entertaining ourselves!
Many of us are also facing the challenges of remote working, and missing the buzz of being together in the office. We’re a social bunch by nature, united by conversations around a whiteboard festooned with posits. So one of our fearless leaders made a communal Spotify playlist for us to all jam along to — you’re welcome to join us!
Useful resources
If you’re new to the world of remote working, Webex is here for you, and on the design team we’re actively working on resources to help you. Here’s some places to start:
