The Future of Carmelo Anthony could possibly look like this

For the season Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks have been topping headlines with Melo trade rumors and Knicks needing to shake up the roster. Carmelo Anthony knows that his time with Knicks is coming to the end and is ready to move on, even stating “If they tell me they want to scrap this whole thing, yeah, I have to consider it.” Keep in mind though that this possible trade is under Melo’s control since he has a No-Trade Clause and it’s his choice to waive it and be traded. The only two teams that have been given the green-light is the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers, and at this point its hard to tell where he will go if they can even get a trade off. Both of these situations could be interesting how it affects Carmelo, the Knicks, and which team lands him.

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

Even though LeBron denied saying the Cavaliers need to trade for Carmelo, I still think he wants them to and wants the media to keep quiet to not upset Love if it doesn’t go through. LeBron has voiced to the media that this team is not good enough and they need another playmaker (I know they got Deron Williams but these finals proved he won’t work), someone who can make things happen on the offensive side. Carmelo Anthony could be that player and could fit in right at PF; which the other time he played that position it was one of, if not his best statistical seasons yet. Carmelo could create points and the chemistry with LeBron would be there right from the beginning. This trade would be a hard one to make but Carmelo and Kyle O’Quinn for Kevin Love and Iman Shumpert could work perfectly, as this would give Willy Hernagomez more minutes to allow him to develop and the Cavaliers an upgrade at the back-up center. How this would affect Carmelo Anthony is that it would put in him a situation to win now instead waiting for Kristaps to develop and staying on a team struggling to earn a playoff spot.

LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

The Clippers want to trade for Carmelo without giving up any of the big three already established there and honestly it makes sense to bring a man whose main job is putting up points, especially at his position. Carmelo definitely wouldn’t be the leader of this team, but could be the main scoring option, or even second if Blake Griffin gets that job which could be the case. The motive behind this trade is that the Clippers want to get what they believe is the final piece to beating the Warriors and while this will help their chances, it won’t help them beat them in a playoff series, especially with the Warriors acquiring Kevin Durant. The trade that would probably go down would be Carmelo Anthony and Justin Holiday for Austin Rivers, J.J. Redick and Wesley Johnson. The Knicks probably would include 1 or 2 2nd round draft picks just to make it sweeter, the key piece of this deal would be J.J. who at first doesn’t seem fit for this trade at all but is on a 1 year deal and is an expiring contract which is what the Knicks most likely want. The Clippers would acquire a Offensive Superstar and the Knicks would acquire an expiring contract, and 2 cheap assets. Carmelo Anthony would be on a contending team that could make finally make it to the Conference Finals with his help, but more than likely not passed that point though.

In summary, the Knicks need to make one of these trades work, for the sake of their franchise and Carmelo’s career, because winning a ring or at least making it to the Finals, is something this man desperately needs to help validate his career and prove the doubters wrong. I want to see one of these trades happen, I just want Carmelo to be successful so he gets the respect he deserves
