Citadel.one is a non-custodial platform. It means we have no control over your private keys — they are fully stored in your web browser. This is why it is very important to always have a backup file of your wallets.

This is the old version of the article, read the new one here.

The backup file is a document containing encryption of the private keys to all of your wallets on Citadel.one. Stored in a safe place, wallet backup can protect your assets in case of computer or software failure and help to retrieve your funds in the event of damage, loss, or theft of the device.

This option is also quite convenient for users who have a few addresses imported from other wallets like Trust Wallet, Metamask, or Keplr. In this case you won’t have to go through a long tedious process of recovering them one by one.

How to create a backup file (2 steps)

Firstly, you need to create a backup file to be able to restore your wallets in the future.

Step 1. Open the Citadel.one web app and go to the Settings page.

Step 2. On the Settings page find the “EXPORT ALL YOUR ENCRYPTED PRIVATE KEYS FOR CITADEL ACCOUNT” banner and press “Export”. All your encrypted keys will be downloaded to your computer as one file with .citadel resolution.

Citadel.one also proposes to download a backup file every time you want to log out. Just don’t remove the checkmark when logging out and the backup file will be downloaded automatically.

How to restore your wallets from backup (4 steps)

Step 1. After logging in, click on the “Import existing addresses” option.

Step 2. Choose “Import file” and press the “Import an address” button.

Step 3. Click on the “UPLOAD BACKUP FILE” window. Select the file and press the “Import” button.

Step 4. Enter your payment password for an account where the backup file was exported in the text box and press the “Next” button.

Make sure to download a new version of your backup after any change in your wallets occurs.

About Citadel.one

Citadel.one is a non-custodial Proof-of-Stake platform for the management and storage of crypto assets. Users can create public addresses for all supported networks with one seed phrase, connect their Ledger or Trezor device, or import an address generated by another wallet.

The analytical dashboard provides relevant information on wallets’ balances and networks’ main metrics. In Citadel.one, we standardize the semantics, making interactions with the platform as easy as possible. The same goes for network metrics. By using universal terms, we are making it easier for users to understand and compare networks.

One of the main functions of the Citadel.one platform is participation in the PoS consensus — users can stake and delegate their assets, claim rewards, and follow the latest network proposals in the voting tab.

Citadel.one offers its users instant cryptocurrency exchange services that allow fast and secure crypto assets swap. It is also possible to buy and sell crypto with a credit or debit card. Citadel.one users can track rewards, withdrawals, transfers, and deposits across all supported networks and add comments to these transactions.

Among PoS platforms, Citadel.one supports BAND network ($BAND) Secret Network ($SCRT), Cosmos ($ATOM), ICON ($ICX), IOST ($IOST), KAVA ($KAVA), BSC and Tezos ($XTZ). We also support Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Tether ($USDT) for our users’ convenience. Mobile and desktop versions, new networks, including Polkadot are scheduled for the upcoming updates. Furthermore, delving into the idea of true decentralization, we envision Citadel.one a decentralized autonomous organization and a genuinely community-owned platform in the nearest future.
