What is a seed phrase and how it works?
A seed phrase is an arrangement of words that are used to generate the private key of your address. A simple explanation of how it works: the wallet software has a list of words taken from a “wordlist”, with each word assigned to a specific number that is involved in key-pair generation. While creating a wallet you normally see it as a random sequence of words — the phrase is usually 12 or 24 words long.
What is a Citadel One-seed?
One-seed means that only one seed phrase is generated for all addresses in your wallet. At Citadel.one we use the BIP39 standard for seed phrase generation, which means there are 2048 words in this “wordlist”. In our case, the phrase itself contains 12 randomly placed words, so the number of possible combinations would be 2048¹² = 2¹³² and the phrase would have 132 bits of security.
Why One-seed is convenient?
Citadel.one users can create addresses in multiple networks with just one seed-phrase instead of having different phrases in different wallets. As for now, we have Tezos, Secret Network, ICON, Cosmos, IOST, Orbs, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT fully integrated into Citadel.one. This means you don’t have to remember seed phrases for numerous addresses in all of these networks — write down your Citadel One-seed and you are set to go!
