The crux of DeFi is decentralization and anonymity, and at Citadel.one we appreciate it deeply.

Why do we need your email?

If so, then why do we ask for your email address when registering on the platform? There are two reasons for it:

  1. It will help you to easily switch between web platform and mobile application.
  2. It helps us to always stay in touch with you. There are a lot of situations when we need to deliver you information quickly: a validator has gone offline and you need to transfer your coins; a loan liquidation is approaching; you need to restake the rewards you accumulated etc.

Citadel.one is a non-custodial solution, so your email address will not give us access to your wallet.

Anonymous email services

How to stay anonymous when sharing your email address? Citadel.one allows you to use anonymous emails, further increasing anonymity in DeFi.

Anonymous email services allow users to create an email address without needing a phone number. Services like G-mail require a phone number and even address information, making it difficult to stay completely anonymous using their services.

The best free anonymous email services at the moment of writing are ProtonMail, Tutanota, Guerrilla Mail, AnonAddy, PrivateMail and Mailfence. In this article, we will use ProtonMail as a case study.

ProtonMail allows users to create an email address without requiring any personal details. All that is required to create an email address is the name of the email you wish to create.

The company is incorporated in Switzerland and all of its servers are located there. This means that all of your data is secured under strict swiss laws.

ProtonMail is also extremely secure. All of the user’s data is encrypted, and IP logs are not kept. They make use of end-to-end encryption and zero access encryption to secure emails to ensure maximum security and to make sure your emails can never be leaked.

How to create a ProtonMail account

1. Open the ProtonMail website. Click “Sign up”.

2. On this page, you can select your account type. There is a free version and a paid version. We will proceed with a free account.

3. Fill in the details of the email you want to create and click “Next”.

4. You can add a recovery email to have your password sent to if you forget it or use your phone number. This is not necessary but recommended.

5. Select the plan. The free plan will be enough to use this email with Citadel.one.

6. Enter your phone number to get the verification code. Then enter it in the opened window.

And just like that, you’ve created an anonymous email address!

Burner Mail

You can also use the Burner Mail system. Burner Mail is a plug-in for Chrome and Firefox that generates for you burner addresses that can be used to forward all incoming emails to your personal account. The subscription costs $3.99 per month and $29.99 per year.

Apple “Hide My Email” feature

Citadel.one platform also offers you an opportunity to log in with an Apple ID.

Apple has a “Hide My Email” system that is similar to the Burner mail. Once you’ve generated a new email contact, all incoming mail is forwarded from that address to your personal inbox. If you decide you no longer need that email address, you can quickly burn it to stop receiving mail without having to jump through hoops to unsubscribe. Plus, it prevents any company from ever viewing your actual address in any form, so your data won’t be liable to leaks or hacks.

To create an anonymous email address you need to have an iCloud+ or Private Relay subscription. It costs just about $1 per month depending on your country of residence. This subscription includes such features as a “Private Relay” to hide your IP, “HomeKit Secure Video Recording”, “Hide My Email”, and plenty of storage for your files

1. When subscribed, go to the iCloud. Scroll down a little and you will see a “Hide My Email” option. Click “Manage”.

2. Click “Set up a new email address” and follow two easy steps.

Congrats, you’ve created an anonymous Apple email address!

Now to use your brand new, privacy-respecting, and anonymous email to sign up on Citadel.one.

About Citadel.one

Citadel.one is a non-custodial Proof-of-Stake platform for the management and storage of crypto assets. Users can create public addresses for all supported networks with one seed phrase, connect their Ledger or Trezor device, or import an address generated by another wallet.

The analytical dashboard provides relevant information on wallets’ balances and networks’ main metrics. In Citadel.one, we standardize the semantics, making interactions with the platform as easy as possible. The same goes for network metrics. By using universal terms, we are making it easier for users to understand and compare networks.

One of the main functions of the Citadel.one platform is participation in the PoS consensus — users can stake and delegate their assets, claim rewards, and follow the latest network proposals in the voting tab.

Citadel.one offers its users instant cryptocurrency exchange services that allow fast and secure crypto assets swap. It is also possible to buy and sell crypto with a credit or debit card. Citadel.one users can track rewards, withdrawals, transfers, and deposits across all supported networks and add comments to these transactions.

Among PoS platforms, Citadel.one supports BAND network ($BAND) Secret Network ($SCRT), Cosmos ($ATOM), ICON ($ICX), IOST ($IOST), KAVA ($KAVA), BSC and Tezos ($XTZ). We also support Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Tether ($USDT) for our users’ convenience. Mobile and desktop versions, new networks, including Polkadot are scheduled for the upcoming updates. Furthermore, delving into the idea of true decentralization, we envision Citadel.one a decentralized autonomous organization and a genuinely community-owned platform in the nearest future.
