Cosmos News

This proposal 31 introduces an upgrade to the Cosmos Hub governance module that would allow a staker to optionally split their votes into several voting options. For example, a single address could use 70% of its voting power to vote Yes and 30% of its voting power to vote No. Sikka is requesting 1776 ATOMs from the community pool to architect and to implement the Governance Split Votes feature proposed in Cosmos Hub Proposal #31. Learn more about the proposal via the link.

The purpose of this initial public testnet will be to allow developers to deploy and test existing smart contracts from Ethereum or any new code they would like to write on this exciting new platform. This testnet is based on the Cosmos SDK v0.39.2 (aka launchpad) and Go Ethereum v1.9.24 and runs the latest version of Ethermint v0.3.1. The upcoming testnets will be part of the larger Cosmos ecosystem Stargate series (Cosmos SDK v0.40.X), which will support features such as IBC for interoperability and protobuf encoding for state and clients. Learn more in the article.

Big Bang-2, a community-led testnet aimed at the wider Cosmos ecosystem and independent zone developers revolves around feature, performance, and IBC composability testing.

Some heavy testing this week is planned including:

  1. querying time
  2. multiple performance cases

After that:

  1. the proposal to enable IBC Explorers
  • Status update for Cosmoshub-test-stargate-e

Сosmoshub-test-stargate-e, an upgrade of the Cosmos Hub to Stargate (Cosmos SDK v0.37 -> v0.40), that includes #IBC testing

  1. A bug was found related to the ledgers not being able to be used with gaiad on the testnet. Check the complete report.
  2. IBC side is ready. The Interchain Foundation GmBH team is updating the relayer & they will be conducting upgrade testing this week, but all required code changes per the internal audit have been completed & merged.

Andy Nogueira brought up an interesting topic about a sustainable path for wallet providers.

“It seems to me that only validators/miners are rewarded with fees but in the traditional financial world the transaction processors (Visa/Mastercard/Paypal, etc) also benefit charging a small fee. I wouldn’t mind to pay that, like if I pay 0.005 atoms for a tx fee I’d be OK to be charged 0.006 for their good service or maybe the tx would allow the wallet to inject an address in the tx fee.”

Now Astronauts can access a proposed Q&A site for users, validators, developers, blockchain researchers, and investors who are interested in the blockchain interoperability ecosystem, Cosmos.

This article explores the main breakthrough innovation that the forthcoming Cosmos Network’s hub upgrade (Stargate) brings to the Cøsmos ecosystem and Distributed Ledger Technologies in general: The Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol. The article also explains the function of bridges as they are going to be of paramount importance post-IBC on Cøsmos. Finally it points at suggestions and/or development of solutions that may add layers of value on top of IBC and that may lead to increased adoption, following the passing of the Stargate upgrade that will implement IBC.

In the video, guys build a Secret Voting dApp from A to Z. They start by writing a very simple voting app, and then explain several privacy-oriented design considerations as they modify it to be more secure. They end up with a simple contract that is able to uphold the privacy of the voters participating in it. Then they integrate the voting app with a simple UI, demonstrating how to build a web3 application using SecretJS, Kepler wallet and ReactJS.

Citizen Cosmos mission is to make the world decentralized and to prove that communication is the key. By learning to use the tools that web3 provides us, they are shaping their organization as a web3 entity and explaining how to use these tools to make your life easier, from wherever you may be geographically based.

Learn more about the improvements that happen within the ecosystem in a Community & Technical Recap. Key takeaways:

  1. IRISnet is developing a dedicated portal to embed BSN International’s public chain services.
  2. IRIS Hub Bifrost Testnet Phase-1 is ongoing.
  3. IRISnet received a Community Grant from ChainLink to integrate its solutions to BSN, China’s Blockchain Services Network.
  4. GetBlock, Renowned Node Connections’ Provider, added support to IRISnet nodes.

And a lot more!

The results of the eighth implementation are as follow:

  1. IRIS Foundation made a distribution to delegators with an amount equal to their delegation rewards in November, distributed 596,842.3622 IRIS in total.
  2. According to the Token Burn Plan, IRIS Foundation burned delegation rewards of Eco-Development Fund on December 3, totally 2,208,460 IRIS.
  3. The foundation set up the “Rainbow Validator” award, which will continually receive application forms. Congratulations to Tomshi for becoming a November Rainbow Validator.

Within the first two weeks of the campaign, over 30 million ATOM were staked by nearly 1,000 delegators. By the time the campaign had ended the number of participants rose to 1,154 unique addresses. Interestingly, the number of delegators on the Cosmos Network increased by more than 14% from approximately 29.5k to 33.7k delegators.

Sifchain’s SAFT round was led by NGC Ventures, with participation from Alameda Research, Mechanism Capital, Bitscale, and others. The protocol is being built on the Cosmos network, and it will be interoperable with several other blockchains, including Ethereum and Bitcoin.

  1. Brian Fox, the creator of BASH shell and first employee of Free Software Foundation (FSF), joins Akash as an Advisor.
  2. Keplr wallet by Chainapsis — a premier MetaMask style wallet for Cosmos SDK chains — enables support for Akash.
  3. StakeCapital announces their migration plans from AWS to Akash for non-critical workloads at first.

Episode 11 of Sharing Secrets is an interview with Josh Cincinnati, the former Executive Director of the Zcash Foundation. Tor asks Josh: What secrets did he learn trying to bring privacy to the cryptocurrency space? Why is privacy education and communication so challenging? What are the biggest threats to privacy and our greatest opportunities to solve them? And what relationship is there between protecting privacy and decentralization? Do they go hand in hand — or are they at odds?

Launching December 14th, the Secret Ethereum Bridge brings the power of programmable privacy to ETH and ERC-20s at low cost. Learn how you can earn SCRT via bridge mining, add support for your favorite ERC-20s, and help scale Secret DeFi.

Introducing a new collaboration between Ocean Protocol and Secret Network that will provide trustless and convenient access control for Ocean datatokens as well as decentralized private compute via Secret Network.

Here are the exiting results of the takeoff:

  1. 47 Cosmos addresses participated
  2. 12699.81558 ATOM was donated during the takeoff period (4.23% of the originally desired amount)
  3. ~10500 GCYB are ready for distribution to those 47 addresses
  4. the latest ATOM/GCYB price is 1.419 (1 billion CYB = 1.419 ATOM)
  5. the current market cap of CYB is 1,419,093 ATOMs or 7,734,056 $ at 5.45 USD/ATOM
  6. 8 evangelists brought newcomers to Cyber and will share a reward of ~750 ATOMs and an additional CYB reward

Upon migration to the Cosmos SDK-powered blockchain, Sentinel will be transitioning their native token. The token will possess a radically improved economic design on Sentinel mainnet. Existing holders of the $SENT holders will be able to swap pro-rata to the mainnet token. The SNT Foundation is planning on increasing its token supply through Cosmos SDK dPOS default inflation and block reward after the transition to the mainnet in a bid to boost its treasury reserve and ammunition for ecosystem incentive prog through an initial period of high inflation.

They are launching a flash Christmas promo this week. They are giving away *santaclaus and *rudolph, as well as 2 prizes of 350 IOV tokens to the community.
