Two Years of Citadel.one
July 13 is a very important day for the Citadel.one team and our whole community — the day we celebrate 2 years since the beta launch of our platform. We want to thank all of you for being with us, believing in us, and helping us by sharing your ideas and giving feedback. Together we created the Citadel.one platform we celebrate today.
It is hard to list all the things we have done and went through since the inception, but we will try. In this article, we compiled the most remarkable and important events for Citadel.one since the year 2018. Enjoy the journey!
Citadel.one Platform Launch
It all began in November 2018, when the idea was born and the first lines of code were written. The main idea was to create a unified interface for PoS networks and provide users with an easy crypto onboarding experience.
The earliest version of Citadel.one Platform went live in September 2019. It looked like this and served as a simple and easy-to-use staking interface:
Validator Service
The first node that went up was the Tezos Baker node in August 2018. We’ve joined the Tezos community and became active ecosystem members. Below you can see a photo of the Citadel.one CTO — Gregory Shabalov giving a speech “Synopsis of Tezos Protocol Updates” at the Tezos Meetup in Moscow.
In May 2020 Citadel.one Mini Validator Universe already counted 5 nodes that were up and running: Tezos, ICON, IOST, Wanchain and Orbs. Today we already run 47 nodes and new ones are on their way to being launched soon!
Tendermint Era
An important milestone was reached in September 2020 when we integrated the Cosmos Network. Then our team started working on other Tendermint chains, so Band Protocol and Secret Network followed this integration.
Cosmos Ecosystem Governance
On March 15, 2022, Governance extension for Cosmos Hub, Osmosis and Juno was launched on Citadel.one. Our users got an opportunity to track new proposals, check all the proposal details and easily vote using different $ATOM, $OSMO and $JUNO addresses right in our app. More info here.
Secret Ethereum Bridge
In May 2021 Citadel.one presented its latest development — Secret Ethereum Bridge — as part of the work on the Secret Community Funding. Users got a chance to bridge their ERC-20 tokens to the Secret Network and enjoy privacy features.
Community Spend Proposal
In January 2021 we presented a Community Spend Proposal in the Secret Network.
We proposed a community spend of 75 000 SCRT to add SNIP-20 tokens compatibility, SCRT>sSCRT/sSCRT>SCRT converter, and Secret Ethereum Bridge interface to Citadel.one and mobile app.
The proposal successfully passed and the work on functional integration began. In May first results were shown.
The process was really difficult, but as a result Secret now has a mobile app with secret tokens, a new kind of secret viewing keys, and Secret Ethereum Bridge on the web platform.
Whitepaper
On July 12, 2021, we released the Citadel.one Whitepaper!
It is integral that users know the full power of the Citadel.one project and all the features it supports. Our whitepaper contains all the information about our platform, validator service as well as our goals and plans for the future.
It explains everything our platform offers in detail to allow users to take full advantage of the platform and all it has to offer: advanced portfolio management, metrics, assets mapping, mobile app, extensions, and more. We also have the $XCT distribution model along with the tokenomics and inflation model present in the whitepaper.
$XCT token sale
During June and July 2021, we were preparing for the token sale — it wasn’t easy and we faced some delays, set dates were changed. On August 12 whitelist for the $XCT token sale was opened and on August 19 $XCT token went live on Ignition Launchpad!
$400 000 was collected during the public sale and the private sale rounds were also successfully closed — we collected $100 000 during the first one and $2 775 000 during the second one.
Citadel 2.0
On October 27, 2021, Citadel 2.0 went live! This major update wouldn’t be possible without our community helping us test and sharing thoughts.
Citadel.one finally entered the new development stage. The new version introduced lots of surprises to our users, including new network metrics, improved portfolio management and analytics, unified transactions tracking, faster and more convenient interface!
Mobile App
In the spring of 2021 Citadel.one Mobile App was launched. Along with an intuitive easy-to-use interface, we have also brought over all your favorite features from the Citadel.one platform, including multi-node staking, staking rewards notifications, and more.
The release was accompanied by a huge giveaway and the number of Citadel.one users tripled!
The renewed Mobile App V 2.0 went live this June. It is available for download on the App Store and Google Play Market and supports almost all Web Platform functionality.
The launch was followed by the Bounty Hunt Program — once again, Citadel.one team and community worked together for the good of our beloved platform.
Discord
Our Discord server actively grows — the number of users has recently exceeded the 700 mark.
The creation and development of the Discord server became an important step for our community because it gives citadelians from all over the world an opportunity to communicate with each other and with the Citadel.one team, find associates in regional communities’ channels and share their thoughts and ideas concerning the operation of the platform.
Redesign
Citadel.one landing page looked very different 2 years ago. Our main symbol was an origami paper dove.
The paper dove left Citadel.one, as the landing page was updated in December 2020. Users got a chance to learn more about the Citadel.one team, see our plans and get acquainted with the concept of the Citadel.one DAO.
On March 22, 2022, we radically upgraded the visual identity of our brand. By doing this we stepped further into evolving the whole perception of Citadel.one.

DEX Apps
Citadel.one 2.0 was designed with apps in mind and on December 21, 2021, 2 new DEXes for 2 different ecosystems were added to our platform: Uniswap for ETH and PancakeSwap for BSC. Osmosis DEX for Cosmos-based blockchains joined them soon.
That day citadelians became able to exchange any tokens without leaving the Citadel.one app! It was a very important step for the Citadel.one project to become the most powerful crypto Super App. Also, with the PakcakeSwap integration, our users gained the ability to purchase XCT tokens right on our platform.
On April 15, 2022, pStake DEX, a liquid staking solution that unlocks the potential of staked PoS assets, was integrated into Citadel.one.
In a few days, the 4th DEX will be integrated into our platform — Sifchain, the world’s first omni-chain decentralized exchange.
Citadel.one DAO
On June 20, 2022, Citadel.one DAO went live. $XCT holders became eligible to vote on the proposals and play their role in the decentralized and transparent future of Citadel.one.
The next day the first proposal to enable all Citadel.one users with over 10,000 $XCT at stake to submit on-chain proposals was released.

- Use advanced staking options: multi-node delegation, redelegation and unstaking with the countdown

- Use DEX extensions without leaving the Citadel.one interface

About Citadel.one
Citadel.one is a non-custodial Proof-of-Stake platform for the management and storage of crypto assets. Users can create public addresses for all supported networks with one seed phrase, connect their Ledger or Trezor device, or import an address generated by another wallet.
