What is the best way for a Delegator to select an Indexer?

Indexers are node operators in The Graph Network that stake Graph Tokens in order to provide indexing and query processing services. Right Indexer can make you a really profitable Delegator who has a good return on delegated GRT. In this guide, you will find all the information you need to know when choosing an indexer.

Checking indexer metrics will help you to understand the amount of reward you’re going to receive delegating on a specific indexer.

Understanding what each value describes and interpreting it correctly is an important step towards choosing a profitable Indexer. Take a look at Query Fee Cut, which shows the percentage of fees an Indexer keeps for providing their services, and Indexing Reward Cut, the percentage of rewards an Indexer receives for the service. Also, pay attention to an Effective Indexing Rewards Cut that shows you how much of the reward earned with your GRT is being taken by the Indexer.

Metrics can be found on the Graph explorer page, Graphtronauts indexing page with rewards calculator, or Graphscan.

Take a look at the tech competitiveness of an indexer.

We recommend you choose indexers that can guarantee a consistent technical setup, stability with special tools, and constant monitoring of the nodes. Also, keeping infrastructure updated is of the utmost importance. The amount of indexing subgraphs or at least their presence is equally important. For example, Citadel has 10 of them.

Choose an indexer with a high social reputation.

Active indexers should be involved in community discussions, support users in chats, participate in community calls/conferences.

For example, Citadel.one constantly keeps supporting users in communities and attends Graph community calls. We also create different content for our partners’ users.

Studying different Graph Educational materials will help you get to know better not only the Graph ecosystem but indexers in particular. I find Graph Academy materials easy to understand even for users with low tech levels. For example, take a look at the article How to choose a profitable Indexer? Also, the “Know Your Indexer” segment and GRTiQ Podcasts have released episodes with the indexers so you can get to know them closer.

The list of indexers is your investment opportunity. Some riskier options can potentially give you higher rewards, while others may provide lower but stable income. To mitigate risk we advise you to think about delegating to multiple Indexers.

About Citadel.one

Citadel.one is a non-custodial Proof-of-Stake platform for the management and storage of crypto assets. Users can create public addresses for all supported networks with one seed phrase, connect their Ledger or Trezor device, or import an address generated by another wallet.

The analytical dashboard provides relevant information on wallets’ balances and networks’ main metrics. In Citadel.one, we standardize the semantics, making interactions with the platform as easy as possible. The same goes for network metrics. By using universal terms, we are making it easier for users to understand and compare networks.

One of the main functions of the Citadel.one platform is participation in the PoS consensus — users can stake and delegate their assets, claim rewards, and follow the latest network proposals in the voting tab.

Citadel.one offers its users instant cryptocurrency exchange services that allow fast and secure crypto assets swap. It is also possible to buy and sell crypto with a credit or debit card. Citadel.one users can track rewards, withdrawals, transfers, and deposits across all supported networks and add comments to these transactions.

Among PoS platforms, Citadel.one supports BAND network ($BAND) Secret Network ($SCRT), Cosmos ($ATOM), ICON ($ICX), IOST ($IOST), KAVA ($KAVA), BSC and Tezos ($XTZ). We also support Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Tether ($USDT) for our users’ convenience. Mobile and desktop versions, new networks, including Polkadot are scheduled for the upcoming updates. Furthermore, delving into the idea of true decentralization, we envision Citadel.one a decentralized autonomous organization and a genuinely community-owned platform in the nearest future.
