Protect Mission Moment: Real time support during mall shooting

Citizen Protect subscribers tell us time and time again that the service offers them peace of mind, knowing that they can reach out to our Agents instantly when needed.

Recently in Boston, a Protect subscriber connected with us via Protect’s chat feature to report she was hiding inside of a mall where a shooting had just occurred. Our texting feature allowed her to reach out to our team even though she didn’t feel safe speaking out loud.

Rebecca, a Citizen Protect Agent, immediately jumped into action, responding with our live chat tool, reassuring the subscriber that they should remain sheltered in place. The agent then called 911 to engage with law enforcement, learn more and keep the user informed via the live chat.

Our Protect Agent also liaised with 911 to ensure verified police information on the shooting was sent to 20,000 Citizen users in the area through an in-app notification. Rebecca kept in touch with the Protect subscriber throughout the entire incident. She was able to advise the user when police had given an all clear that it was safe to evacuate the mall.
