A man accused of making the explosive package that killed a 73-year-old man in Queens was arrested yesterday. This news came after a 7-month investigation into the “porch bomb mystery,” finally providing some answers to questions about motive and the bomb maker’s intended target last summer.

Citizen began covering this tragedy on July 28th, 2017, minutes after the explosion. George Wray had opened a package left on his porch when the concealed bomb detonated. A Citizen user showed the scene and the massive police response as the NYPD began their investigation.

Wray did not survive the injuries he sustained. Victor Kingsley was arrested 7 months, to the day, after the explosion. Yesterday the NYPD announced that Kingsley was likely targeting a police officer who had a previously arrested him.

We reopened this incident yesterday to add the long-awaited update: A suspect has been arrested.

Many of our users commented that they remembered this case, and even more wrote to commend the NYPD for the work that led them back to Kingsley. We echo those thoughts, and send our sincerest condolences to the Wray family.
