Meeting our audience where they are- a record year for digital engagement

--

I’m really proud of the work we’ve done this year at Citizens Advice SORT Group to raise our profile online and reach new audiences with advice and support, in what has been another challenging year.

With demand for advice continuing to grow, we’ve been proactive in planning creative campaigns and engaging content- using paid search and social to share targeted advice to the relevant people at the right time- meeting them where they are.

We’ve built our SEO knowledge to improve our website, increasing our visibility online, and promoting our self-help resources to those who prefer to access advice online. We got better at analysing our online data to make the most of our resource and maximise our impact- doing more of what worked well, as well as identifying and addressing any gaps.

As a result, 2021 was a record year for digital engagement.

Our social media posts were seen over a million times- that’s a 99% increase on the previous year.

We recorded over 25,000 likes, comments and shares on our social media posts, a 113% increase from 2020.

And we grew our social media audience by nearly 20% throughout the year, to 9,579.

Visits to our website were up this year by 56%, with 39,000 visits compared to 25,000 recorded the previous year.

14,527 people visited our self-help web page- a 90% increase from 2020.

As we move into 2022, we will continue to adapt and work proactively to ensure we’re able to help as many people as possible in Stockport, Oldham, Rochdale and Trafford.
