Stae, like many organizations, has faced a set of new challenges in 2020. But this year has also seen us advance our vision of helping public sector entities bring together data from public and private sources to gain insights, inform decisions, and manage performance. As part of our continuing efforts towards this mission, I’m excited to announce Sean Jackson will be joining the team as Chief Executive Officer effective today.

This year we’ve been thrilled to bring on new partners: helping drive performance through more real-time and in-depth reporting with the Big Blue Bus in Santa Monica and empowering the City of Long Beach Neighborhood Services to streamline their existing reporting workflows while developing new metrics to measure the impact of their community development programs.

We’re excited to have these new partners join with our nationwide network of public sector clients in seeking to transform their ability to understand and improve their programs through data. We are only just beginning to demonstrate what the future will be — a future where civil servants can use data to answer questions as they arise and understand the impact of policies in real time.

Stae is entering a new chapter as we bring the product we’ve honed with our initial public sector partners to market. A few months ago our former CEO and my good friend, Dan Barasch and I began the process of seeking the leader who would navigate Stae through our next phase of growth. We sought someone with a strong background in Civic Technology, experience bringing early stage technology to market, and leadership experience to scale our team for our next chapter. Which brings us to Sean.

Sean is an exceptional leader with a strong experience both in the civic tech world and in bringing new ideas to market. His work founding Motor City Mapping and with the Detroit Blight Removal Task Force give him deep experience leveraging technology to tackle challenging policy issues. His experience as founder and CEO at Sift, growing the organization from zero to over 100 partner organizations, affords him an understanding of what it takes to bring new solutions to market. Lastly, Sean’s 8 year tenure as a US Marine gives him a unique perspective on building and inspiring teams. As CEO, Sean will bring new energy and focus to Stae as we bring our tools to market. His background at the intersection of technology, operations, and innovation make him not only a great cultural fit for Stae, but for the civic tech community.

Sean said “I’m excited to be part of the next phase of Stae, and humbled at the opportunity to lead a team of civic technologists who have been passionately building a platform that stands to transform how the public sector can leverage data to drive decision making.”

As founder of Stae, I know we are just getting started. I’m grateful and proud to have been part of building Stae, and look forward to what’s yet to come.
