I’m taking inspiration from Spain to start a new newsletter and YouTube channel in 2025

TL;DR: I am starting a new newsletter publication about the bikes I see and the people who ride them, in the perfect cycling city, Valencia, Spain.

My wife and I moved here in January. And we absolutely love it. Moving here — not to mention leaving the car-dependent United States — was one of the best moves we have ever made. As a couple and independent of one another.

There is no honeymoon period. For me, there is a deep and long-standing urban planning-rooted why that prompted this decision.

I knew what I wanted. I challenged myself out of a good situation to get it. And, now, I am experiencing all of it and more in my daily life.

Part of the and more is that, while I knew I would ride a bike while living in Spain, I didn't anticipate the bike infrastructure and attendant bike culture to be as strong in Valencia as it is. There are a ton of bikes here and that’s because this is a great city to ride a bike in.

So, my new newsletter — Friki de Bici (Bike Geek) — will be about all of the above and more. I hope to capture at least a slice of this culture with how I hope and plan…
