A Workshop for the World

Growing up in beautiful Evergreen state, I’ve always loved the outdoors. I enjoyed hiking around my neighborhood and going on adventures with my dad. Throughout the years, this passion has only grown stronger, and I now spend my free time exploring the trails across Washington. However, the hours of scenic views and (literally) breathtaking climb comes with their fair share of dangers and unpleasantries. Many difficulties, like finding the trailhead or parking, can be cleared up easily, but there are other, more severe risks that come with hiking. For example, getting lost along the trail or taking the wrong route can be dangerous and potentially life-threatening. Right now, these risks are not well-addressed.
Thus, I developed an idea to start a company built for to keep hikers safe. This business would build physical stores across trailheads in Washington, providing hikers with maps, supplies, and different methods of communication in times of emergency. In addition, this business could provide a phone app to show hikers a visual of the route they would take, reducing the likelihood of getting lost on the trail. I’ve always had this dream in my head, but without the experience, finances, or legal knowledge to start a business, I figured that my dream would stay a dream.
