All eyes are on the task at hand as Orlando City travels to the Bay Area for a clash against the San Jose Earthquakes. While perusing the internet, we stumbled across some delightful words from ESPNFC’s Paul Mariner about Orlando City’s recent home tilt vs. LA Galaxy and the maturation process of the Lions in MLS.

Mariner thinks the catalyst for recent success could be due to the Kevin Molino injury, “It sort of galvanized the whole group”.

He also had some flattering words for coach Adrian Heath when talking about the typical struggles of MLS expansions sides.

“It’s difficult to galvanize a group…Adrian Heath has done that extremely well…The travel, the depth of the squad, it’s going to be very, very difficult. If he gets into the playoffs they should name him the Mayor of Orlando, because it’d be a fantastic job.”

It certainly would be a fantastic job as the Seattle Sounders are the only expansion side to make the playoffs in their first year. Orlando City is positioned well to be the next side to accomplish that feat. While I doubt Heath would want to be the Mayor of Orlando, I’m sure there are some members of the Ruckus and ILF that would write him in.

The difficult summer months, dealing with injuries and international duty, will be tough to navigate, but Orlando City has the right man in charge to do it.
