Nocerino Saga Part III: Orlando City in Trade Talks with DC United

The Antonio Nocerino story continues for Orlando City.

Today (Feb. 9) reports surfaced on the progress of Orlando City’s efforts to land the Milan man. First the Washington Post’s Steven Goff reported on the progress, which was later followed up by the Orlando Sentinel’s Paul Tenorio, confirming that Orlando City and DC United are engaged in trade talks over the rights to the Italian.

DC United owns the exclusive negotiating rights to the player because they were first to submit a discovery claim to MLS league offices. However, because Orlando City has reportedly offered a higher salary (and perhaps because of his friendship with Kaká) Nocerino seems only interested in coming to central Florida.

DC United declined to match Orlando City’s offer and it now appears they are now willing to trade his discovery rights.

It seems to only be a matter of time until Nocerino joins Orlando City as Goff even tweeted that his Milan contacts are confident the deal will get done.

Milan contact tells me Nocerino is confident DCU & Orlando will reach deal on MLS rights and he will sign with Orlando
