We’re excited to share that we’re up and running with our first East Coast local government! The town of Chelsea, Massachusetts launched their Amusement/ Entertainment License, Common Victualer License, and Rooming House License Applications on the CityGrows platform last week, bringing these workflows online for the first time.

With two transplanted New Englanders on the CityGrows LA team, we’re excited to help local governments in and around our hometowns improve transparency, efficiency, and customer experience with digital services.

Like many local governments, Chelsea has very specific applications for certain business license types. CityGrows helps digitize existing local government workflows. The platform not only brings application forms and license fee payments online, but also digitizes the real “behind the scenes” work of local government such as reviews and approvals. And because CityGrows is compatible with existing websites, Chelsea got up and running very quickly.

Best of all, our “clone this process” feature will let other Massachusetts governments with similar licenses benefit from the great work that Chelsea has done — we make it easy to duplicate, adapt, and launch workflows, so local governments don’t have to start from scratch!

Our team member Homa Mojtabai has been working closely with the staff in Chelsea, and she’ll be spending time this fall in Massachusetts connecting with more local governments. Given the great foundation that Chelsea has created, you could get your own processes online in as little as a week, so you could start on Halloween, and be live before Thanksgiving!

Many thanks to the team at Chelsea who have created a great example of the kind of rapid, low-cost innovation that’s possible with local government leadership.
