Marcella Eubanks — Owner of Bravery Kids Gym

Walking through the doors of Bravery Kids Gym, you’re greeted by a colorful environment and the sounds of children engaged in play. As you look around, you will notice children focused on various tasks — they’re challenging themselves to scale the rock-climbing wall or cultivating their imagination through dress-up and coloring. It’s immediately clear that Bravery Kids Gym is a vibrant place filled with joy; it’s a place where children feel safe and comfortable.

Marcella Eubanks, owner of Bravery Kids Gym was inspired to create a space in Fayetteville where children of all abilities can come together to play with a purpose. After serving in the United States Army, Marcella made the decision to stay at home in order to devote more time to being a mom. She went to school to become a Licensed Massage Bodywork Therapist and a Physical Therapist Assistant. Initially, Marcella used her education and training to work with people with various neurological and physical disabilities, but her path took a different course after her son was diagnosed with autism. His diagnosis prompted Marcella to learn more about the disabled pediatric community.

Marcella recognized a need in Fayetteville for a space that would provide children with and without disabilities the opportunity to come together and play under the same roof. Her background in Physical Therapy and the information she acquired through learning about her son’s autism, taught Marcella that play fosters children’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Bravery Kids Gym is dedicated to stress the importance of early intervention. Marcella has seen firsthand what a difference this can make and she feels passionate about giving all children in Cumberland County and surrounding areas the opportunity to participate in activities that promote early learning. These experiences will be indispensable as the children attend school and are placed in various contexts throughout their lives. Every aspect of Bravery Kids is focused on giving children opportunities to socialize and to participate in activities that are beneficial to their development. Marcella’s vision to create a space where all children can be free and explore life has come to fruition at Bravery Kids.

Bravery Kids Gym — Play Area

Bravery Kids has multiple spaces that are designed to facilitate the type of beneficial play that will support children to grow. In addition to the main gym, which includes equipment and toys that are designed to facilitate play, there is a fine motor area, sensory room, and reading room. As a parent of a nine-year-old child with autism and a typically developing four-year-old child, Marcella knows there is an inherent benefit that occurs when children, regardless of their abilities, play together. Bravery Kids Gym is an inclusive place where all children are welcome and learn from one another. This interaction helps children to build empathy and understanding. Her own experience has also made Marcella aware of how essential it is for parents of children with disabilities to feel supported. Bravery Kids Gym provides classes for parents and helps them to find resources within the community that offers support.

Marcella’s passion lies in finding ways to bring people together so that they may learn from each other and experience joy in one another’s company. She understands that the community grows stronger as people are given opportunities to share their lives with one another. Bravery Kids Gym brings the parents and children of Fayetteville together so that they may experience success through the delight of purposeful play. Marcella looks forward to meeting you and your child.
