For the environment concern and Vision Zero plan, more and more cities have taken steps to improve bike infrastructures. After San Francisco’s mayor instructed the transportation agency todouble its production of protected bike lanes over the next two years, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio also announced a bicycle plan, green wave, to improve cycling infrastructure and cyclist safety across the city.

Recently, to advocate bicycle plan, Lyft added bike lanes information to its app in every market where it has shared bike and/or scooter programs. On its map, protected bike lanes will appear as solid green lines while bike-friendly routes will be dotted green. The company believes it will encourage people to use two-wheeled transportation more often and safer.

In the long term, riding a bikein citiesmay seems a good idea because bikes are economic and needs no gasoline. However, due to the fact that there are so many cars in NYC streets now, it is doubtedful that whether drivers will follow the rules and not occupy bike lanes, just like plenty of videos that drivers refused to leave bike lane showed in YouTube.
