Metro, Subway or other public transportation, as we might see in those mega-cities like Tokyo, New York, and Hong Kong, are deemed as one of the most appealing images for the city. However, if you are in a rush to go to the airport or for a meeting, will you do choose the public transit as your primary option?

When I was traveling at Hong Kong in 2014, I found out their metro system connecting to the airport is not just for the passengers, and surprisingly, for their luggage as well. It’s a unique system that combines the transportation and logistics for the commuters, which the Hong Kong’s MTR subway came up with this brilliant solution, “in-town check-in”.

It was designated as an airport express line connecting three different major stops in the city that the traveler can check-in your luggage and enjoy a hand-free journey before departure or even store your luggage to explore the city and pick-up for another time schedule. In order to purchase the Airport express line, all you need is a flight ticket, which indicates your flight will departure within 24 hours. With this innovative solution, people can avoid the traffic congestion problem during the peak time, and saving extra time for their itinerary. I believe the future mobility will depend on not merely the scale and the size, but mostly the solutions to improve the efficiency and reliability of the city.
