Choosing a place to live is a big deal. But when deciding where to call home, buyers and renters often have little information to go on beyond what a Google search or listing agent reveals. Localize.city aims to change that by using AI to rifle through thousands of public and proprietary datasets and neatly presenting relevant bits about a particular address via their Insight Engine.

Insights run the gamut of quality-of-life issues from rat infestations to transportation options to nearby construction. Are you really into houseplants? Localize can tell you if your neighborhood gets good sunlight. Like to walk or bike? Localize has you covered.

Insights not only cover present conditions, but also predict about what life will be like in the future given currently planned projects in the neighborhood.

Localize provides a much-needed boost in transparency and, like the popular Citizen app, aims to connect to information about their near surroundings. In this way, these kinds of hyperlocal-focused apps really embody the value of open data.

Localize currently covers NYC addresses only, but expansion to other cities is underway and Localize could provide a unique way of comparing different open data catalogues.
