Context:

Animal algriculture acounts for 14% of greenhouse gas emit. One possible way to reduce that is to grow pieces of meat instead of whole animals in laboratory. People have been thinking about this since the nineteenth century. Scientists at Maastricht University in the Netherlands are making it happen. They have already succeeded in conjuring up a piece of meet using cells. The piece of meet was placed in a hamburger and was said to be delicious. The cost, however, is still too high for it to be introduced to the market.

Complication:

While producing meet in labs saves space, energy used in the procedure at present is more than that needed for raising animals in farms. Scientists need to estimate the possibility of reducing it to a much lower level or the ultimate goal of saving the environment won’t be achieved.

Resolution:

If meet can be pruduced in labs much farmland can be saved for other use.

Next steps:

Have faith in scientists to reduce cost. I am looking forward to trying out this eco-friendly burger.
