Whenever we step in Soho, we see a bunch of people who dressed in the latest fashion style especially in the beginning of September during which is the New York Fashion Week. However, along with the high cognition of the high fashion industry, the destructive impact has been significantly underscored for decades.

Proper waste disposal is one of the most critical aspects in protecting our environment. Though there are rules and regulations for how certain types of waste should be disposed of, no clear laws stop the massive waste from the waste of the fashion industry. Major fashion brands, such as Burberry and Zara, admitted destroying the unsold clothes and accessories by burning instead of selling it off at a low price in order to protect the brand image and exclusivity.

However, there is no clear law or penalty towards the dirty open secret of the high fashion industry. Therefore, the government issued policy is the most demanding step. Companies should also receive a huge amount of penalty and negative impact on reputation if they violate the policy. Also, fashion companies should do more precise market research in order to reduce deadstock before production. For customers, we should support brands which recycle the material and contribute to our environment.
