Signal 1: Trash Crisis in the United States of America

The United States of America is one of the largest producers of waste in the world. The US is undergoing a crisis of recycling waste since the Republic of China has banned the imports of mixed paper, metals, and 26 other solid waste to reduce their carbon footprint via buying the lower level of contaminated waste-demanding only to buy more refined waste which resulted in a huge inventory of waste stored in the USA. In my opinion, it has created a havoc around the world as China was their major ally in recycling waste.

We must care as it affects the triple bottom line of Sustainability i.e. Public, Environment, Economy. In the worst-case scenario, we might stop recycling which directly affects people in terms of health, Environment as we landfill/ incinerate the trash and economy as the price of the new materials, increase exponentially.

To resolve this issue, we can open recycling plants in the USA creating more jobs resolving the unemployment issue in the USA. In addition, we will create new ways and materials which are bio-degradable and lower the contamination level learning from countries like Sweden and which do not affect the triple bottom line of Sustainability.
