Pokémon GO

A very first AR game Pokémon GO started with a simple concept to bring people outdoors and play together to chase the Hidden Pokémons, collect supplies at the Poké Stop, and conquer the Poké Raid in our physical urban realm blended with Argument Reality. However, there are myriads of people wandering around the parks and malls, or even stuck at the intersection of traffic for some so-called legend Pokémons. According to the Daily Mail, more than 110,000 road accidents in the US were caused by this game in just 10 days after its’ initial launched in 2016.

Even the hype of the Pokémon GO had generated a series of controversial social issues, I believe there is tremendous potential if we can convert those incentive challenges in the game as productive tasks that we encountered or suffered in our daily lives. One example is the O2O service ( Online to Offline) company Mogl, which offer cash-rewards for people shopping at offline commerce. Also, there are some crowdsourced delivery services, such as Instacart, Postmates, and UberRUSH, tackling the last mile commerce and delivery challenge.

With the Lesson of Pokémon GO, the incentive messages should be delivered with targeted users by analyzing their preference. The merchants in the malls could provide coupon checkpoints or other offline credits, like the Poké Stop. The delivery provider may also post the crowdsource deliver challenge in order to advocate self-pickup or on-foot delivery service. We might think that drones, smart locker systems or other automatic delivery options will pervade for the next decade, and the Last-mile opportunity is not just a cost-effectiveness analysis, but more engage with users’ preference and inventiveness.
