Technical Creativity in MTA Rescue Plan

I discussed about the technical factors of NYC subway delay in last few signals. For MTA, how to raise money and allocate it in an appropriate way is another important thing.

In fact, according to a report on New York Times, MTA had a subway action plan running after a major derailment happened last summer. They pour $836 million into fixing the system. Repairing signals and railways can largely decline the chance of trains stuck in half-way. Yet they still do not get a positive response from riders after this plan.

Although I agree with the idea of repairing work, considering the 100-year-history of NYC subway. I believe there should be more investment in technical creativity. For example, finding a better way to improve or even replace the signal system instead of merely trying to fix it, and accelerating the speed of the whole system so that wasted time during delay can at least be compensated by the speed.
