How to manage the curbside smarter and better is the theme of my last signal. Faced with pervasive curbside congestion problems, one of solutions I suggest is that the city should leverage cloud technology by combining data sources. However, how to collect curb data from the sidewalk is the problem, because the data must be accurate at a reasonable cost.

Fortunately, Coord, a cloud-based integration platform, recently has launched one app called Surveyor, which could solve the curb data collection problem and manage the curbside better. And Surveyor is easy to use. Government agencies can pick up one area, walk down the sidewalk and take pictures of parking signs and other curb features like fire hydrants, bus stops and driveways. The app uses AR technology to precisely position these features. After that, Coord interprets curb data to determine real-time curb regulations in this area. That is why I believe Coord can help coordinate it all in the picture below.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, Coord is confronted with an enormous number of different data sources. This will make getting accurate curb regulations an intimidating task. Thus, I believe open data from cities makes it much easier. It is true that Coord will use Surveyor to collect data itself. However, it is much easier to work with more accurate city open data when possible. Therefore, I suggest public agencies should provide Coord with more open data, which will contribute city curb to operate better.
