Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is promoting his company’s new Virtual Reality (VR) headset, Quest, beingreleased next spring, claiming to target a billion users, but so far, VR product sales have not substantiated nearly that expected level of interest.

VR products have been available for several years, but have had poor features, making consumers leery. The products tend to be quite expensive and built with inefficient hardware that is heavy, uncomfortable, or unsatisfactory in display refresh capability. Also, the content has not been as impressive or extensive as most consumers would expect for the price. Significant improvements are needed to warrant expectations of massive popularity.

VR is widely forecast to be the wave of the future, making Zuckerberg’s new offering highly anticipated. His history of successful innovations holds promise for Quest’s viability as a “game changer.”

The application of VR should be wideningsince current applications of VR are mostly basedon personal recreation purpose. Toboost selling of new VR gears, Zuckerberg should extend the use of VR in daily life, such as apply VR into online shopping, housing purpose, communication, andeducation. Penetrate VR into daily life, make it a second ‘Apple,’so that Zuckerberg can achieve his 1 billion goal.
