“Spheres — great example of plant building”

Amazon, the world’s largest retail company, is one of the frontier of the “plant buildings”. Its new headquarter in Seattle is a great example of the merging the greenery with building. Amazon’s new headquarter set of glass orbs filled with “cloud forest” gardens, providing not only the functional work areas for employees but also green space for city and public.

The name of Amazon’s new headquarter is “Spheres”. Its geometric pattern is derived from a shape found in nature, which is known as a Catalan solid. Underneath the glass, a layer of film helps to limit the level of infrared radiation that enters and therefore keep the interiors cool.

Many of the plant species at The Spheres are from cloud-forest ecosystems, which are typified by cool, humid conditions.
