Nowadays, many technical corporations invest into the development of driverless cars, as they believe the automatic vehicle will be the future ways of transportation. However, the drawback of the driverless car has emerged now, which raises people’s concern about the safety of driverless cars.

There are at least 12 driverless car accidents until now. On 18 Mar 2018, an Uber self-driving car hit and killed a pedestrian in Arizona. After only a few weeks, a self-driving Waymo minivan crashed in the same state. Even the frequency is much less than human driving, its still bad news for a young industry trying to prove robots can make roads safer. Also, from a study of autopilot, the much rely on automated systems will result in people lacking the proper control knowledge or skills. What’s more, FBI warns driverless cars could be used as ‘lethal weapons’ and may provide convenience to criminal.

It seems still a long way for driverless cars to go. In my opinion, the stricter policy for testing driverless cars is not only good for public security but also help the positive development of the driverless car.
