It begins: Day-1 // “Discovery Day”

It was a full house yesterday at Five by Five HQ as fellows, experts, and track leaders united under one roof to shake hands and talk shop. The goal: to start drawing up battle plans for solving each fellow’s challenge over the next two-weeks.

“Social impact is not a vertical, it can and should happen anywhere.” — Kat Borlongan, Five by Five

Kat Borlongan, cofounder of Five by Five and founding director of the Paris Summer Innovation Fellowship, officially began the festivities with an introduction to the program and inspiration behind its beginnings. From there, we moved on to present each of the fellows, experts, and track leaders.

Good food, coffee, and of course, cheese, fueled the 40 plus group as everyone got acquainted and started brainstorming in breakout sessions. This lasted until it was time for a tour and drinks at Techshop across town.

“We want more people to change the world around themselves.” — Paul Duan, Bayes Impact

The company was truly top-shelf. Great minds, good hearts, and a sense of humor made a very full day fun. Thanks again to everyone including Jean-Philippe Clément, Smart City Officer, City of Paris, Jean-Baptiste Roger from La Fonderie, Paul Duan, Founder & President of Bayes Impact, Frédéric Bardolle of Data for Good, Mathilde Berchon, Manager at Techshop, and all other experts and leaders who joined us to break the ice and offer guidance to the ready fellows.

And we’re off!
