This past Giving Tuesday, I invited nonprofit organizations across the country to participate in the third annual Civis Ask America Anything contest. The winners of the previous Ask America Anything contests — A Better Balance and the National Domestic Violence Hotline — used our findings to promote paid family leave and advocate for survivors of violence.

Leading organizations nationwide competed in this year’s contest and it was a tough decision.

But we have a winner! I’m proud to announce that the 2017 winner is the Children’s Defense Fund.

We look forward to helping the Children’s Defense Fund use public opinion research to champion policies and programs that lift children out of poverty, protect them from abuse and neglect, and ensure their access to social services.

In the coming weeks, my colleagues and I on the Applied Data Science team will work with the Children’s Defense Fund to find out what the American public thinks about the issues that matter to them and share how they can take action on those insights. Stay tuned for a post on our findings!

Thank you to our partners at the Children’s Defense Fund and to all of the incredible organizations who competed this year.

From all of us at Civis, have a fantastic start to 2018!
