Civitas Continues Team Expansion With New Group Account Director

COLUMBUS, OH — (December 13, 2017) — Civitas (www.civitasmarketing.com), an experiential marketing company and a member of the Scoppechio network, announced several new hires in October as part of its efforts to round out its client services, field marketing, and operations offerings. Today, Civitas adds another member to its team with the appointment of Jay Schmidt to Group Account Director. Schmidt, who was Civitas’ first employee in 2012, returns to the agency from Red Square Agency and Alabama Media Group, where he worked in senior account positions at both companies. Schmidt’s new role is effective immediately.

“Jay was Civitas’ first employee after I launched the company in 2012. He was with us at the very beginning and helped to kick off what has now been five years of continuous innovation and growth,” said Jacob Taylor, Founder & CEO of Civitas. “Civitas has evolved immensely since then. I know Jay has the skills and expertise to help us continue our trajectory as we head into 2018.”

In his new role as Group Account Director for Civitas, Schmidt will be responsible for driving growth across the agency, as well as building upon existing client relationships with brands such as Kentucky Tourism, Smart Columbus, and Express, as well as the brands on which Civitas partners with Scoppechio. Previously, Schmidt served as a senior account executive and project manager at Red Square Agency, where he worked with clients including Hard Rock Casino, Southern Comfort, and Wind Creek Hospitality. Prior to that position, he served as Director of New Business Development for Matrix Media Services.

Commenting on his return to Civitas, Schmidt said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled about re-joining the outstanding team at Civitas. Schmidt joins Civitas in the wake of a series of major acquisition, partnership, and personnel announcements from the company. Earlier this year, Scoppechio announced that it had acquired a majority stake in Civitas, making Civitas an official member of the Scoppechio network. The company has also added Smart Columbus, Prime Social Group, Baptist Health, El Jimador, and other major brands to its client roster. The company continues to build its offerings in the experiential marketing world as it prepares for the New Year.
