As our 2018 team gathered together to what we thought was just a fun day of packing donated items into suitcases for the people in Uganda, the afternoon ended up drawing out a lot of different emotions from different team members. Everyone was astonished and overwhelmed with gratitude at the amount of donations we received from so many generous donors.

One team member quoted, “It suddenly hit me standing in a room filled with hundreds of donations that this is really happening and we are leaving so soon! I felt overwhelmed and encouraged by how many people from so many different groups took the time to buy much needed items for our trip. I imagine the faces of those we’ll be serving who will be impacted by the generosity of those who provided these medical supplies, school supplies, clothes, and hygiene kits that we’ll be handing out. I can’t wait to get there next week!”

Another team member said, “At first glance it was very overwhelming to see how much was donated for the trip. The best part was watching each team member pitch in to get things organized and packed away. We all saw what needed to be done and jumped right in. I believe it is indicative of how our efforts will blend together while in Uganda. Everyone doing their part will accomplish amazing things.”

As teams form for trips like this, there is truly something amazing that happens. At first it feels like an individual journey as everyone is hustling and bustling trying to fundraise while getting caught up on vaccinations. Somewhere along the journey, however, it clicks that every single person is gifted with very different and unique ways. Each individual makes the team whole.

Each member is irreplaceable, and each person’s individuality benefits the team as a whole.

You realize that you need one another to lean on as you move forward together on this trip.

On that day of packing, there was definitely a spirit of unity in the room as we indeed [[ DOVE ]] into all that needed to be done together. Without hesitations or reservations, anywhere that needed a helping hand had one.

As we packed, one more team member mentioned, “Packing up all the donations with our team made me even more excited to serve alongside them! This is an amazing group of people who are using their God-given talents, gifts and connections to make a difference in the lives of the people of Uganda. I’m moved by their hearts, compassion and joyful spirits. I’m so honored to be able to join them and can’t wait to see how God is going to work through us on this trip.”

All this to say, T minus 4 days… we cannot wait!

Please continue praying for our team.

Pray for protection against illness as some team members have recently come down with the flu.

Pray for traveling mercies.

Pray for provision in every way needed, but ultimately join us in THANKSGIVING for all that has already been done and for what awaits us in the days ahead! We are ready! #ClarisinUganda
