Dr. Lam Sze Mun is an outstanding scientist that has made serious waves in Malaysia.
She was the first in her family to earn a Ph.D. and currently works as an Associate professor at, faculty of engineering and green technology at the University of Tunku Abdul Rahman. Dr. Lam Sze Mun explains that her work on Photocatalytic fuel cell-related research can produce clean and sustainable energy by treating greywater. Traditional Wastewater treatment only treats the water, but electricity may simultaneously generate with the process. Her research uncovered that this method benefits rural areas facing difficulties with generating electricity.
During her interview with Prestige, Dr. Lam Sze Mun tells us how she was interested in experiment-based work and how it motivates and encourages her to seek out epiphanies in understanding how something works.
The thoughtful scientist also shares her research with STEM projects in secondary schools, universities, and community programs to promote awareness to the public. Dr. Lam Sze Mun’s contribution to society is her research discoveries, applications, and impact on the nation and society worldwide.
Through her programs, Dr. Lam Sze Mun has encouraged and educated the next generation of young women scientists by, handing down knowledge and experiences to our successors in science and technology.
Dr. Lam Sze Mun feels that women have the opportunity now more than ever to close the gender gap in science and technology.
