5 Reasons Why Olympian Emily Cook loves…
It was an exciting day at Classroom Champions as we officially announced EMILY COOK as our new Athlete Mentor Manager!
Emily was one of Classroom Champions’ first athlete mentors (℅ 2012–2014) and was an American freestyle skier in aerials. A very successful skier and a: 3x Olympian ~ 6x US Champion ~ 9x World Cup medalist !!

After retiring, Emily went to Skullcandy to run its first-ever Sport and Human Potential Program before the coaching itch grabbed her. She recently served as the World Cup and Interim Head Aerial Coach at US Ski & Snowboard, but is now ready to transform Classroom Champions’ athlete mentor program!
See the FIVE REASONS why Emily loves Classroom Champions and why she’s excited to be back:
- One of my favorite Classroom Champions moments was going to Florida to visit Martina McQuire’s classroom. I loved learning that her classroom would say hi to me every morning at the start of class!

I then got to spend the day with her students learning about the goals they had set, which ones they had achieved, and what it took to get there! Getting the chance to thank them for cheering me on throughout the year was so great and I truly felt like a part of their classroom.
2. When competing, I always signaled to my coach to tell him I was ready to go. Little did I know that my Classroom Champions thought I was waving at them!! Seeing the video of my mentees waving back at me from the classroom was so fun! Knowing they were watching and cheering me on is one of the things that helped me keep working hard to get to the Olympics and lifted me up when things were challenging. I loved knowing they were there celebrating the wins too!
3. LIVE CHATS FROM SOCHI! It was so cool to have the opportunity to participate in a live chat with my Classroom Champions while at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games! Hearing from my students all the way in Russia and answering their questions about everything — the food in Russia, my friends and competitors from around the world, and so much more — was a great experience.

4. I always loved meeting up with my fellow Classroom Champions mentors around the world at competitions and events! As an athlete, finding another athlete who knew the joy and feeling of being a Classroom Champions mentor was really special. That sense of community made it so much fun to cheer them on throughout the season, and made watching Classroom Champions mentors medal at an Olympic Games extra exciting.

5. Today, I love getting the chance to connect even more students with their Classroom Champions Mentors and support them in learning about goal setting, community, leadership and perseverance.
I also love that I now get to support athlete mentors in something that is so important to them… the opportunity to give back!
