A booklist to help ease the entry back into the new school year

For kids and adults alike, back-to-school season can be fraught with emotions — happy and otherwise. It is an often busy time of year of preparation as a student, a teacher, or a parent. The first day of school tends to be a monumental moment in time, and with such come many mixed emotions!

To support all of our social and emotional development and well-being (an ongoing quest!), we’ve compiled a list of picture books that can help spark meaningful conversations about the end of summer free time, the first day of school, and planning for a productive — and engaging — school year.
