Classroom Champions is looking for an inspiring, organized and athletically minded individual for a full-time role to become our Athlete Mentor Coordinator.
What does this mean?
As you know, Classroom Champions pairs Olympic, Paralympic, NCAA student-athletes, and professional athletes with K-8 classrooms across North America. You know as well as we do that the athlete mindset has far more to teach our world than just in sport. The skills that athletes possess can help build a child’s skill set so they’re able to thrive in the classroom and beyond. Our athlete mentors teach critical life skills such as goal setting, perseverance, leadership, teamwork, and much more.
You will be joining the Elite Athlete Mentor Team who are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of our unique and impactful athlete mentorship program.
This role will support in:
- The recruitment of athletes
- The day-to-day coordinating of all of the athlete-submitted content and updates
- The crafting of unique and engaging experiences for the athletes.
Here’s a little more about the Classroom Champions Athlete Mentor Programming
Classroom Champions’ flagship program, Mentorship+ SEL Foundations, brings a dedicated athlete mentor directly to classrooms for a year-long mentorship experience. This position plays a critical role in coordinating the activities, live experiences, and content collection for the program.
So what would your responsibilities be?
- Helping athlete mentors prepare for, complete, and upload monthly video content.
- Coordinating athlete schedules for live interactions with their classrooms.
- Compiling all necessary assets from athlete mentors (videos, images, bio information, etc.)
- Maintaining accurate records of athlete mentor deliverables, including but not limited to lesson videos, monthly updates, engagement with teachers in the private community, and live interactions.
- Coordinating with athlete mentors to participate in opportunities outside the scope of basic programming (speaking engagements, virtual events, short-form videos, etc.).
- Other responsibilities as designated by the Athlete Mentor Manager.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with athletes, and/or as an elite athlete
- Experience working with volunteers
- Familiarity with Google Suite
- Familiarity with video conferencing platforms
- Familiarity with project management platforms, especially Monday.com
- Highly organized
- Self-motivated
- Passion for Classroom Champions’ mission
- Eager to learn and solve problems as they arise
- Collaborative, with the ability to work with a diverse and remote team
- Flexible and eager to jump into a dynamic and passionate community
This position will begin in January 2022, will report directly to the Athlete Mentor Manager, responsibilities may be subject to change.
