Celebrating Social Emotional Learning with Our Teachers & Athletes
Classroom Champions’ 2020 Virtual SEL Summit
As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, we hosted our 2020 Virtual SEL Summit on Friday, May 8th, in collaboration with some of our rockstar teachers. We spent a few magical hours with teachers (and athletes!) to come together to celebrate, learn, and laugh.
Fueled with the energy of connection and joy, the Summit started with games and laughter, and led into a heartfelt welcome from co-founders Leigh Parise and Steve Mesler, who are committed to celebrating and supporting teachers.
Our exuberant School Support Manager, Kate Pereira, guided Summit participants through the brand new platform’s teacher dashboard that was created by teachers, for teachers. Kate also introduced the plethora of new resources available to both teachers and families in the SEL Foundations Curriculum.
Together, we discussed timely distance learning tools and ideas, tips for implementing Classroom Champions’ virtual scaled mentorships, and a special preview of our new SEL Foundations Curriculum unit, Emotions: Find your Center. Classroom Champions’ teacher, Jennifer Regruth, from Seymour, Indiana, shared the love back, thanking us for “constantly evolving Classroom Champions and inviting teachers to be part of the process!”

A Special Thank You from Athletes
And let’s not forget the sparkle that makes Classroom Champions special — the connection to elite athletes! Special Olympic and Paralympic guests, Tessa Virtue, Markeith Price, Andrea Proske, Brittany Hudak, and Emily Nishikawa joined in the celebration of teachers by sharing their own personal words of appreciation and encouragement.
